Stowe, VT – Sep 2021

Fall, as we all know, is one the best time to visit the New England area and that’s what exactly we have been meaning to do for a long time. So this year, we actually went ahead and planned an impromptu trip to Vermont and flew to Burlington VT instead of driving, to save us more time to explore the area. For accommodations we love using BNB’s instead of traditional hotels, two of the many reasons being they provide the comfort of home and also if we are staying out for a longer duration we can make our own food (health conscious ehh), so by default AIRBNB becomes our go to app to find a place to stay. We found a lovely BNB in Stowe VT, one of the best we have stayed at thus far. The apartment was very well appointed, cozy and comfortable, with lovely little details all around. Had so many board games, a few of which we ventured into. There was a hut tub, which we used each evening of the stay. Simply beautiful!

The first morning of our stay, we hit Mt Mansfield for hiking. Mt Mansfield is the highest mountain in Vermont that peaks at 4,395 feet above sea level and the trail head was roughly a 10 mins drive from our place of stay. The entire trail is 7.3 miles, but you can drive up to certain points up a gravel road and start walking from your desired location. We may have just walked 2.5 miles back and forth from our starting point but nevertheless ending to some spectacular views of the valley. Only thing, we did not gear up well for the weather as it got pretty chilly at the top but who cares if you are walking on clouds.

Enroute Mt Mansfield

The next day, we picked the Stowe Pinnacle trail and hiked almost 3.7 miles, again ending to some more beautiful valley views.

The last day of our stay we had planned to hit Lake Willoughby for kayaking. Lake Willoughby is a lake in the town of Westmore in Orleans County in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The lake’s southern end is surrounded by the Willoughby State Forest. This state forest includes Mount Pisgah, Mount Hor, collectively “Willoughby Gap”. Despite the Lake view being fantastic, the weather was a little rough with heavy and chilly winds in the area and hence no kayaking. We opted to hit a trail instead, Mt Pisgah culminating into breathtaking 360 degree views of the lake from top of the mountain.

Mt Pisgah was a 4.8 miles long moderate difficulty trail, winding up along some forest views. We loved every bit of our stroll and hike and as always clicked pictures along the way.

Aside from all things outdoors we do not miss to have our sweet fun time at home, here are some funky captures forcing sheesh to participate along. I really want to buy that cool Russian soldier hat for myself one day. I shall!

Not to forget, for food we hit Doc Ponds, a cozy little bar in the town.. then another day we picked Thai food from “Stowe Asian Cuisine” and for one more meal we gobbled pizza at this cool place called “Piecasso”. All pretty nice but chicken wings at Doc Ponds were the best ever. Must try!

We would again go back to Fall colors in New England but probably a new destination and new trails… Walk Walk Walk!!
