We returned to Cherry Springs, in the fall of 2021, but this time we were not alone. We were joined by our friends, driving from nearby Jersey area, who were camping for the first time with a 3 year old so we were looking forward to a nice get together and also were all set to have fun with the baby :).
This time around, we reserved our camping spot at Lyman Run State Park as that was the one that had availability and also we wanted to experience a new location. The drive as usual was fantastic and unlike last time, we timed it well and reached well before dusk (see I told you we will become better at camping 😉 ). Set up tent in a jiffy (experts yay) and prepared a nice meal so we can savor it as soon as our friends arrived.
Though we did not have any set plan, it was really to hit a nearby hike a day and then simply enjoy our time at the site playing games, chit chatting, reading and doing anything that a lazy bum should do.

Next morning, while me and Sheesh hit a trail right next to the campsite our friends enjoyed the fresh morning and indulged with the baby. Upon returning, I prepared some basic breakfast but as you know how even a simple meal can taste delicious while outdoors, so we rejoiced in its glory.. We had some Indian poha, sunny side up, bacon, bread and Indian Chai… slurpp! The rest of the afternoon, we rested and napped.

That night, since the sky was very clear we hit the observatory area for night sky watching. It was cold, but anything is worth if you see a shooting star or two. Wish I see them everyday.. sigh.

The next day we drove around route 44 to catch some fall colors and there were a few places that did not disappoint us, however admittedly we have seen better colors other places of interest. Repeating our indulgence in food, both nights we tried and prepared some Indian delicacies including Chicken curry and Paneer and enjoyed them with Naan bread from Costco while drinking away to a bottle of wine and gazing at stars.
Such a beautiful experience it was, looking at the night sky with a satisfied tummy and solving world problems with friends. We saw many shooting stars and to re-live the experience, our gang will be returning soon 🙂
